Founded in 1831, the Garrick was London�s most important club devoted to �the patronage of the drama�. As a member in good standing, Dickens may have enjoyed the club�s famous Summer Gin Punch, which was reputed to have been invented by his friend, Albert Smith. The recipe can be found in Convivial Dickens, The Drinks of Dickens and his Times.

  • 1 lemon twist
  • 1 orange twist
  • 2 fresh raspberries
  • 2 pieces of diced pineapple
  • 5ml lemon juice
  • 10ml orange juice
  • 5ml gomme
  • 10ml water
  • 10ml Maraschino
  • 40ml Beefeater gin
  • 25ml soda, to top

Method
Build in a mixing glass over ice cubes, and then transfer into a punch cup.
